Fragrance family

Fruity fragrances

Sweet, juicy, easy to like. Peach, blackcurrant, apple, pear. The family that pleases fastest and tips over most easily.

18 questions, about five minutes. The result costs 9.99 euros, and you pay only afterwards.

How to spot them

The impression is round and sweet, without blossom. Where citrus scratches, fruit cushions. That makes it pleasing and risky at once.

The notes

  • Peach – velvety, creamy
  • Blackcurrant – bitter, almost feline
  • Apple – green or red, very different things
  • Pear – soft, slightly watery

Where sweetness takes over

Fruit plus vanilla or sugar gives the impression many describe as sticky.

Fruit plus moss or wood stays bitter. The base decides, not the fruit.

How to tell it from its neighbours

Fruit borders citrus and blossom. The dividing line is the kind of sweetness.

Citrus

Peel instead of flesh. More sour, sharper, clearly shorter.

Floral

Blossom instead of fruit. Many fragrances mix both; what leads is whatever is still there after two hours.

Soft amber

Here the sweetness turns resinous rather than juicy. Heavier and warmer.

When fruit works

Fruit reads more balanced in cool air. In heat the sweetness comes forward and quickly becomes too much.

There is no evidence for this: neither retail nor manufacturers state occasion or season. Anyone sorting by them is guessing. That is why neither enters our scoring.

What the concentration changes

Eau de toilette, eau de parfum and extrait differ in the share of fragrance oil, rising in that order. More oil usually means longer wear.

Fixed percentage limits are not laid down in law, and the houses disagree. So ask about the concentration, not about the price.

Where the limit is

The same peach note can read creamy on you and soapy on someone else. That is the skin, not the fragrance.

That is why every recommendation ends the same way here: the test on your skin decides.

Your next step

The test tells you whether fruit comes out in front for your answers – and which three fragrances qualify, with the reasoning sentence by sentence.
