Fragrance family

Woody amber fragrances

Warm, sweet, dense. Wood with amber, vanilla and often a little spice. The most built direction of the past twenty years.

18 questions, about five minutes. The result costs 9.99 euros, and you pay only afterwards.

How to spot them

The impression starts dry and turns sweet after half an hour. That switch is exactly what marks the family.

The parts

  • Cedar or patchouli – the dry frame
  • Amber – resinous, warm
  • Vanilla – soft, sweet
  • Tonka – almondy, powdery

Why so common

The mix lasts, takes heat and pleases widely. For a house that is the safest sum.

The price: these fragrances resemble each other more than in any other family.

How to tell it from its neighbours

The family sits between wood and amber. What decides is how much sweetness the wood carries.

Plain wood

No sweetness. If you like wood but find this direction heavy, look there.

Amber

Resin without a carrying wood. Warmer still, denser, less angular.

Dry woods and leather

Smoke instead of sweetness. The same weight, but hard rather than soft.

When wood with amber works

The direction takes cold well. In heat the sweetness quickly becomes insistent.

There is no evidence for this: neither retail nor manufacturers state occasion or season. Anyone sorting by them is guessing. That is why neither enters our scoring.

What the concentration changes

Eau de toilette, eau de parfum and extrait differ in the share of fragrance oil, rising in that order. More oil usually means longer wear.

Fixed percentage limits are not laid down in law, and the houses disagree. So ask about the concentration, not about the price.

Where the limit is

Amber and vanilla react strongly to skin temperature. On warm skin they soon add up to more than you applied.

That is why every recommendation ends the same way here: the test on your skin decides.

Your next step

The test tells you whether this direction comes out in front for your answers – and which three fragrances qualify, with the reasoning sentence by sentence.
